Its history and actions
In 2007, Société de la Tour Eiffel created the Société de la Tour Eiffel Foundation with a dual ambition:
encourage creativity and innovation;
promote professional integration in the construction sector.
2007
The Foundation launched its first competition the following year with a call for projects for the design of a building on the Champ de Mars.
The 2008 Eiffel Architecture Competition was a success story and will be followed in 2010 by a new edition, inviting competitors to propose a renovation plan for the famous Eiffel bridge in Bordeaux.
The Foundation is renewing its course of action in 2011 with the launch of the Eiffel Foundation scholarship. Won by two students, it will allow them to carry out a study trip to South America on the myths and realities of Gustave Eiffel’s presence.
In 2012, the foundation was renewed for 5 years.
In 2016, it proposed the 3rd edition of its competition with a new challenge and a new space: to design a non-high-rise office building of 2030 on an existing plot of the Eiffel Paris-Saclay Park, belonging to Société de la Tour Eiffel and located in an innovation hub.
2017 will be the year of the foundation’s sustainability, extended for three years, with a renewed allocation of EUR 150,000.
In 2018, this extension will allow the creation of a research grant on a subject as innovative as it is fascinating: the transferability/reversibility of buildings.
In 2019, the 4th edition of the Eiffel Architecture Competition “Architecture and Biomimicry” was structured around an inspiring challenge: to design an office or mixed-use real estate project planning the development of the relationship with the world in a bio-inspired approach.
The foundation was renewed for a period of 3 years in 2020 with an allocation of €150,000.
Its Board of Directors is changing. It is now chaired by Patrick Bernasconi and has Myriam Larnaudie-Eiffel among his members.
After a change in the Presidency in 2022, now in the hands of Didier Ridoret, the Foundation was renewed in 2023 for a further 3-year period. It launched its 5th call for ideas open to students in French architecture schools, known as: “Mutatis, Mutandis: one building, several lives” on the subject of reconversion of an asset held by the founding company in Bagneux.
